Our 8 mile “Classic” whitewater trip down the Snake River allows you to paddle but gives you the option to sit in the middle of the raft and hold on. Great for families that have young children or members that just want to “Hang on and enjoy the rapids.”
This is a class lll river (from l-Vl), with 8-10 sets of some real fun rapids. After every section of whitewater you go through there is a calm section following. This is a very wide and deep river! Great for jumping in for a quick swim! Some sections are up to 80 feet deep. This is a good thing as the shallower rivers can be very technical and rated in the upper V’s. This is a great family river! Also, a great river for all ages who want some big waves.
What to wear? You may wear shorts or bathing suits. We do have splash jackets on the river if you want to use them. For those of you who get cold and wish to rent wetsuits, that’s not a problem. We have plenty and ALL sizes! We have changing rooms at the boathouse. Sorry, no Flip Flops or bare feet. Teva’s, water shoes or tennis shoes will be fine. We do have some great wetsuit boots that will keep your feet warm for rent at the boathouse.
The water temperature varies. May and June you can expect it somewhere in the mid 40’s to 50’s. July and August mid 50’s to the mid 60’s and September and October back in the 50’s. One reason our season lasts as long as it does is because it is fed from a dam, the Jackson Lake Dam.
Do you want to have a little extra adventure? You can take a smaller boat for bigger splashes and added adventure for an extra $5 per person!
Hold on to your hats and glasses, this here is the wildest trip in Jackson Hole… This trip does require everyone to paddle unlike the “Classic” which does allow you to paddle but you can also trade off and take a rest.
For $5 more per person, you can get into a small boat and increase the thrills as you hit some of the Snake Rivers famous rapids; Big Kahuna and Lunch Counter!

We believe that it is the section of the river and the quality of the guide that makes your scenic float trip most memorable. We have chosen the best thirteen mile stretch of the Snake River for you to get the best view of the Tetons from the rivers perspective. Our guides have extensive training in wildlife, ecology, geology, river hydrology, as well as interesting facts about the Jackson Hole and the surrounding area. We want you to have the same experiences they do and take that feeling home with you. It will be an experience that you will remember for a life time….
We offer three scenic float trips a day during our high season (June through August) and one and two trips a day during the Spring and Fall months. Please refer to the chart for exact trip dates and times available. Each trip is equally enjoyable and book up fast so make your reservations early. Scenic Float trips includes a delicious lunch that features a deli sandwich, potato chips, homemade cookie and water.
The first Sunset Trip starts June 16th and our last Sunset Trip is August 31. Which ever trip you choose, you are guaranteed a wonderful experience.
We also provide high powered Bushnell binoculars for you to thoroughly enjoy the surrounding area. These binoculars will give you the unique opportunity to view the many types of wildlife up close as if you were standing right next to them! It certainly makes for a better trip when you are able to see a bald eagle or an osprey from the comfort of your raft.

Jackson Hole Whitewater has a, best of both worlds, fun filled combination trip that includes a whitewater trip down the 8-mile stretch of the Snake River Canyon and a scenic float on the upper section of the Snake River. The 8:45 AM & 12:45 PM combos are our most popular trips! This does come with lunch on the river. Don’t forget to bring your camera! This first part of the trip is filled with wonderful mountain views and hopefully some big game. You will not be getting wet on this trip. Bald eagles are ever present on this stretch, as 4 to 5 families call this stretch home. Dress in layers, it’s usually pretty nice on the river, but it is the mountains and we can have an occasional storm pop up. We do have windbreakers for you to use. If you want to see one of our boats on the first leg of your trip go to www.snakerivertrips.com
After floating through 13 miles of some of the most beautiful scenery in Jackson Hole, you will be treated to some of the wildest whitewater in Wyoming. The same vehicle that takes you to the river after lunch brings you back to the boathouse. We do this for a reason! You can put on some shorts, sunscreen lock things in your car and use the bathrooms.
The second part of the combo is the whitewater trip on the lower part of the Snake River, known as the canyon of the Snake River. On this section you will get wet!
Don’t miss our famous Boatman’s Breakfast served prior to our 8:30am whitewater trip. The breakfast whitewater trip only lasts for a few months from June 20-August 20. You can book either our classic raft or the more adventurous small boat. This is our most popular trip as it allows you to get back in time for lunch and maybe an afternoon trip up to Grand Teton National Park!
It’s a healthy light breakfast, just enough to fill you up before you hit the river!!
Cereals, croissants, fresh fruits, orange juice, hot chocolate and coffee..
How much is it? It ’s on us!
